Molly Barnes

(She/Her)

Associate

As an Associate at Building Impact Partners, Molly supports our clients by making connections between strategy and implementation, focusing on the big-picture without losing the details, and ensuring each project meets or exceeds its goals. Molly credits her passion for systems change through philanthropy and education to her years as a chemistry teacher, when she fundraised for (and eventually taught in) a new chemistry laboratory that supports students seeking economic mobility. After leaving the classroom, she served as a policy advisor to an elected school board member in East Los Angeles, with a focus on his effort to start a local education foundation. Before joining Building Impact, Molly was a project manager at Forum One, helping foundation and nonprofit clients extend their influence through their digital presences; prior to that, she was a communications and educational event-planning consultant for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Molly received her master’s degree in urban education policy and administration with distinction from Loyola Marymount University, and her bachelor’s degree in design and sculpture with honors from the University of Southern California.

Fun Facts:

  • Molly lives outside of Seattle with her wife and their two dog children, Bodie and Finn.
  • In her spare time, you’ll find Molly cooking, crafting, or being a handywoman.
  • Molly’s love of stargazing, hiking, and sailing comes from the many summers she spent in Desolation Wilderness in California’s Sierra Nevadas.
