About Alex Johnston
Alex Johnston is the President and founder of Building Impact. A co-founder and former CEO of ConnCAN, he led this nationally recognized advocacy organization focused on closing Connecticut’s academic achievement gap for seven years. He is a board member of FaithACTS for Education, a former board member and Chair of the Policy Innovators in Education Network, and completed two terms of service as a member of the New Haven Public Schools Board of Education. He has also worked in youth development and affordable housing, including serving for four years as Director of Operations for the New Haven Housing Authority. He serves on advisory boards for the Center for Reinventing Public Education, Education Resource Strategies and the Trust for Learning. A graduate of Harvard College, Alex received a D. Phil. in politics from Oxford University’s Lincoln College on a Rhodes Scholarship.
