AS BUILDING IMPACT, WE ARE EXPANDING OUR MISSION in pursuit of bigger and bolder ways to catalyze change. Building Impact exists to help make the world a better place – reimagining our public education system, ensuring equitable access to healthcare, equipping youth and adults with the skills necessary to navigate the future economy, and more. Since our founding in 2012, we’ve worked with dozens of individuals, families, and foundations to develop and implement customized strategies to drive systemic change at the local, state, and national level. We’re excited to continue strengthening our impact by expanding our issue focus and elevating our work at the intersection of the most pressing social issues.

WE COMBINE OUR DEEP EXPERTISE in key issue areas, as well as strategies for effective philanthropy, advocacy, politics, and personal development to work with our clients to help them become more effective change agents. We are a team of experienced strategists, accomplished practitioners, and trusted advisors working with forward-thinking philanthropists from different backgrounds and regions across the country. While each of our clients is unique, they share a commitment to creating a just and opportunity-filled society and leveraging their capacity, time, and resources to tackle the issues that matter most. As trusted partners providing advising, coaching, and convening services, we help our clients develop the knowledge, skills, and mindsets necessary to be more effective.

WE BELIEVE IN THE POTENTIAL of forward-thinking philanthropy. Catalyzing systemic change requires a deep understanding of self, of the complexities surrounding pressing social issues, and of the communities most impacted. We call this orientation “forward-thinking.” Forward-thinking philanthropists and change agents strive to focus on systemic change over the long-term. They invest patient capital, cultivate an adaptive mindset, build alliances, engage thoughtfully on issues of race and equity, and creatively use all the tools at their disposal to drive meaningful change.

WE ARE CONFIDENT in the orientation necessary to have impact, but we do not have a fixed perspective on how to make progress on a particular issue. We work in partnership with our clients to develop a view based on the best available information. We offer our clients an honest assessment of what we think is most likely to lead to meaningful impact – rather than just telling them what they want to hear. We do so because we fundamentally believe that transformative change requires leadership and that the future of this country we care so deeply about requires it – perhaps at this moment more than any other in our history.
